RIPARIAN AND UPLAND PLANTS
Since fencing the Preserve in October of 2008, we have found many plant species that cannot be found in the surrounding cattle grazed habitats. Some of these native plants are pictured here. One of the negative effects of removing livestock from an area is the overgrowth of weeds. However, we prefer the weeds to destructive cattle grazing and trampling of the brush and ground dwelling birds and wildlife and the waste products they leave behind!
